In Austria, this takes eight years and in Switzerland the pupils have to spend at least eight years (and in some cantons nine) at Maturitätsschule - grammar school. Traditionally, there are several types of grammar school: those that specialize in classical languages (Latin and Greek), those that emphasize modern languages (with or without Latin), those that specialize in maths and science or economics, and those that put emphasis on music and art.
